The Final Meeting of LITEBUS project was held at UPM/INSIA – Madrid  with the presence of the Commission Project officer – Dr William Bird. This meeting formally closed the research activities of the project. The main achievements of the project were:

·         It was possible to demonstrate that composite sandwich materials can be used with the advantage in the fabrication of lightweight vehicle structures leading to a significant weight reduction

·         Sandwich composite material structures can meet demanding criteria of flexural stiffness ,torsional stiffness ,crashworthiness, fatigue resistance and corrosion and fire resistance

·         Sandwich composite material allows great flexibility in the body design as far as industrial design is concerned with particular emphasis on pleasant aesthetics and functional integration

·         Sandwich composite material has been demonstrated to lead to reduced environmental impact when a Life Cycle Cost approach is adopted
